Inertial Measurement
Maximum repeatability
Inertial measurement is highly repeatable by nature: acceleration depends only on inertial mass, which doesn't change. On roller dynos, as long as temperature, tire pressure, engine cooling, and room ventilation remain constant, runs repeat with very high precision. On engine dynos it's even easier, since power transmission is direct.
From method to actual measurement
The measurement principle is one thing; how the electronics and software read that information is another. Sampling frequency, sensor precision, and signal processing all come into play. Each of these variables affects the final result, and the system design aims for the best balance between them.
The Design
What sets us apart
All data acquisition system manufacturers work with similar components: sensors, capture electronics, and software. The difference lies in how the sensors are chosen, how measurement is synchronized, and which algorithms transform that data into real values of acceleration, RPM, torque, and power. Our goal is to deliver high-end performance at an accessible price.
The components
The system consists of three parts:
- The sensor, which detects rotation.
- The electronic interface, which captures the signal and sends it to the computer.
- The software, which processes the raw data and presents it in a clear, useful way.
The Support
24/7 AI support + human team
You get an AI assistant available 24 hours a day that knows the full manual and has access to a knowledge base of previous cases and solutions. It resolves most queries instantly, with no waiting or business hours.
When a case requires human intervention, it automatically escalates to our team via WhatsApp with the full conversation context already gathered, so you don't have to repeat anything. We get straight to the point: we guide you, send you the specific manual link you need, or solve the query on the spot.
When something goes wrong
If a problem comes up, we help you diagnose it. We'll ask questions, request photos or videos, and go step by step until we find the cause. We stay with you throughout the process until the equipment is running again.
Real Applications
Who is it for?
This kit works on roller dynos and inertial engine dynos. Installation is very simple: a single rotation sensor working with a magnet mounted on the roller or flywheel. More details in the online manual
There's no power limit imposed by the system: the same hardware and software work for a 10 HP bench or a 1000 HP one.
The Real Limits
The limits are defined by the inertial mass of the roller or flywheel in relation to rotation speed. The higher the speed, the less inertia needed. Geometry also matters: ideally, most of the weight should be concentrated at the periphery, where it contributes more moment of inertia.
What can you measure?
The system can measure:
- Power
- Torque
- RPM
- Acceleration times
- Lambda sensor (wideband or narrowband)
- Pressure, exhaust temperature, and auxiliary temperature sensors
- Friction losses (allows estimating crankshaft power on roller dynos, not just wheel power)
It also applies automatic weather correction through the SAE Correction Factor, delivering normalized values on every run.
Typical uses:
- Inertial dynos for motorcycle and kart engines
- Roller dynos for motorcycles and karts
- Roller dynos for cars and pickups
- 4x4 vehicles (using two sensors)
- User-built inertial engine dynos of more than 100 HP
